Green option for palm kernel oil users

Pressure is building on retailers and manufacturers to stop using palm oil – or at least to switch to palm oil that has been produced sustainably.

Unfortunately, no sustainable palm kernel oil – commonly used in detergents, cosmetics, confectionery and many other everyday items – is being produced and certified.
For manufacturers of these products, then, the only sustainable option at present is to buy GreenPalm palm kernel oil certificates and support the production of RSPO certified palm kernels.
High-profile retailers are increasingly making the news for their support of sustainable palm oil production. Companies including M&S have pledged to cover their entire use of palm oil with GreenPalm certificates, which reward producers for working sustainably.
The certificate trading programme works with existing supply chains, making it simple, feasible and commercially viable. It is also ideal for manufacturers and retailers that are not yet able to buy the product they need sustainably, but who want to show support for ethical production.
