Trading in GreenPalm surges
One month into 2010, we have reached an important turning point in the market for certified sustainable palm oil (CSPO). As you may have learned this week, there is now unprecedented demand for CSPO, with the amount being bought or covered by GreenPalm certificates now equalling supply.
At the time of writing, the current bidding price for GreenPalm certificates has soared to $13, a rise of over $3 in just three business days.
So, producers – over to you! There has never been a better opportunity to earn a premium for sustainably produced palm oil, and it is crucial that we don’t miss this chance to show that the world’s calls for sustainable material are being answered.
Remember, in the 18 months since certificates began to be traded via GreenPalm, producers have earned a total of $3.5m for their efforts. The money is there to be made – and as more producers sign up, we can persuade more manufacturers and retailers to choose GreenPalm and support sustainability.
Snap up last 2009 certificates
Certificates covering CSPO and CSPKO produced in 2009 are still available. Any manufacturers or retailers in a position to take advantage of the lower-priced certificates for last year’s output have until March 31st to do so. Make the most of it – the market is changing rapidly.
